Lyn Stevens

Lyn was born in Auburn, Indiana and grew up in South Bend before moving with her parents to Angola, Indiana in the 8th grade. She graduated from Angola High School in 1955 and entered Nurses training at Memorial Hospital in South Bend the fall of that year. In the mean time she met and became engaged to her future husband, Dayle Stevens, a Tri-State University graduate. The following summer Lyn and Dayle were married at the Congregational Church in Angola. For the years 1959-1967 Lyn and Dayle traveled extensively with Dayle’s job as a field engineer with Honeywell, Corp. This included a number of stateside assignments as well as overseas in Okinawa, Canada, and Germany. The Stevens have 2 sons, Mark born in 1960 in Okinawa and Scott born in 1962 in Germany. 1967 found the Stevens family out of field engineering and assigned to Honeywell’s location here in Pinellas County. After searching a few area church’s the family found Oakhurst through some friends, joined the church in 1969 and have been faithful members ever since.

Lyn has been an active participant throughout the years with all kinds of different tasks, such as youth counselor, summer school counselor, office helper, cook for the homeless, volunteer cooordinator, member of a number of church committees and recently led the effort in upgrading the old kitchen. She believes that her faith in God and Jesus have guided her life in service to others and to Oakhurst.
