Debbie Perry - Rainbow Preschool Director

altHi! My name is Debbie Perry and I am the Director of Rainbow Preschool. Next to talking about my grandson, I can occupy serveral hours just bragging about my children at Rainbow Preschool.

I was born in Norfolk, Virginia where I lived until I was eleven. My dad worked for an engineering corp. that built power plants. At age eleven we started moving all over the country. We typically moved every 18 months, similar to the military. I have had the chance to live in Reno, Nev.: Savannah, Ga.: Newburg, N.Y.: Calais, Maine: Norfolk, Va. and Tampa Fl. Each town or city presented a new challenge and a new adventure.

I met Jim Perry when we were attending Manatee Jr. College in Bradenton, Florida. He had just returned from the service and I was still looking for a direction to go in my studies. We dated for two years while continuing our studies at USF. We married in 1971. With a new job with Honeywell we moved to Seminole. During our pregnancy with our oldest son we started to attend Oakhurst U.M.C. When Christopher was Christened, Jim and I transferred our membership to Oakhurst. We have been members ever since.

We have two wonderful sons, two terrific daughters-in-law and one grandson; who is the light of our lives. Phoenix is two now and attends Rainbow Preschool. Christopher, our oldest owns his own remodeling business and Jonathon is attending the Fire Academy. Both have turned out to be wonderful sons and men.

I have been in the Preschool business since Jon was three years old, some twenty-three years. My first experience was teaching a two year old class. I would learn later that the twos are my favorite age. After teaching for ten years, I took the chance that maybe all the education I received (B.A. Art Ed., A.S. Early Childhood, CDA and CDA in Directorship) would help to advance me into a Director's job. In 1996 I took the job of Director of Rainbow Preschool.

Rainbow is more than a job. It is a love of children and their families and the passion to share God's wonderful world with them. My goal is to make Rainbow Preschool the best preschool around; the school that all other schools compare to. Rainbow will not only be academically strong but will be a school that families come to because the love of God is reflected in everything we do.
