Most of you are aware of the volunteer transportation service provided by the Health Ministry Committee of our church. This service has been in operation successfully for the last two years. For the benefit of New Members to Oakhurst United Methodist Church, and as a reminder to others, here are the guidelines to assist you.
This service is available for those members who cannot drive themselves to specific medical and dental appointments, trips to the grocery store, pharmacy and the bank within Pinellas County.
Members must be able to get in and out of the vehicle without assistance.
Call the telephone coordinator, Marie Seibling at 727-391-5040, during the day, Monday through Friday, to request a driver. Give her specific details of your request such as date and time of appointment, location, address and phone number of the appointment. She will call a list of volunteer drivers and match a driver with the member requesting transportation. The driver will contact the member to confirm the arrangement and for further directions of necessary.
Whenever possible, give the telephone coordinator five to seven days advance notice.
If the telephone coordinator is unavailable to receive your request, leave your name, telephone number, and reason for your call on her answering machine and she will return your call as prompt;y as possible. If you have questions, please direct them to Oakhurst's Parish Nurse, Margaret Strickland, at 727-392-8428 or Marie Seibling at the number above.
