Jackie Marschall, Music Director

Picture1

A native of St. Petersburg, Florida, Jackie Marschall received her Bachelor of Music degree from Florida Southern College in Lakeland. Her love of sacred music and a desire to work with children, youth and adults led her to pursue a Master’s degree in church music from Scarritt Graduate School in Nashville, Tennessee. Following graduation, she served Skycrest United Methodist Church for five years before coming to Oakhurst. Jackie has served Oakhurst UMC since 1991 as Director of Music. During her tenure she has directed preschool, children, youth, adult and handbell choirs. Jackie also plays the flute and loves to share her talent with fellow instrumentalists in the congregation. When she is not at church or working on music, Jackie enjoys spending time with her husband, Dan and son Curtis. Their favorite activity is traveling to Tallahassee to watch Florida State football games. They also enjoy summer trips to Pennsylvania and any kind of local road trip that involves a combination of sports and shopping! “It is a great honor and privilege to serve as Oakhurst’s music director. Our music ministry is dedicated to glorifying God through the gift of music. The great organist and composer, J.S. Bach, signed his compositions with the words, “Soli Deo Gloria” which means “to the glory of God alone”. It is our prayer that as we lead and participate in worship our music will glorify His name and will inspire all those who hear it.” Proverbs 3:3,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
